Overview ReadyGo™, Inc. is an innovative company specializing in eLearning authoring tools and courses. Its premier product, ReadyGo Web Course Builder™ (WCB), received the 2001 Excellence in e-Learning Award, given each year by brandon-hall.com and Online Learning magazine. The award falls into the Customer Satisfaction category for authoring tools. ReadyGo WCB significantly alters the way organizations develop eLearning materials in much the same way that word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software revolutionized their respective business tasks. This powerful new authoring tool is so easy to use that the subject matter expert can create a course in a fraction of the time previously required. Initially, ReadyGo developed training courses for major corporations, including Alcatel, British Telecom, and French Telecom. ReadyGo WCB grew out of founding partner Anita Rosen's frustration with the graphics-heavy, cumbersome authoring tools available to her. That's when she and partner Al Moser determined to build a simple, easy-to-use tool to create eLearning sites. ReadyGo Web Course Builder: Simplicity, Speed, and Low Cost To date, developing an eLearning site has been a complex, expensive and time-consuming operation involving programmers, graphics and instructional designers, a pedagogy expert and, of course, the subject matter expert. Traditional course building tools come from the computer-based training (CBT) world. They are graphically heavy, and designed for the power user, e.g., a Macromedia programmer or artist. Using ReadyGo WCB, a product or sales manager, vice president or secretary, or any other subject expert can develop content is a simple, guided format. By eliminating complexity, the cost to develop the site is dramatically reduced. According to a ReadyGo survey, costs to create an eLearning site run between $25,000 to $50,000, using traditional authoring tools. ReadyGo WCB cuts those costs to only $2,500 to $5,000. Likewise, the time required for site development is reduced. In alpha testing, ReadyGo clients indicate that a 200-page course that previously took 400 hours to develop can now be created in approximately 20 hours. Integration With Portals and Learning Management Systems ReadyGo WCB works with popular e-Learning portals and Learning Management Systems (LMS), including KnowledgePlanet, Mentergy, Meridian, and LearnFrame. ReadyGo personnel work closely with popular e-Learning portals to develop code that enables the portal to accept an e-Learning course created in ReadyGo WCB. The ReadyGo course creator simply selects the desired portal from a pull-down menu, and the course is saved in a compatible format. Students then access the course through the e-Learning portal used by their company. Courses created with ReadyGo WCB automatically track student progress, and forward the results to the company's portal or LMS. ReadyGo WCB is also SCORM and AICC compliant. ReadyGo Web Course Builder: How it Works ReadyGo WCB runs on any Windows-based system, can reside on any web server, and can be accessed by any web browser. The subject matter expert enters data through a series of dialog boxes, including those for content pages, links, and graphics (JPEG, GIF, streaming media and Java applets). There are also dialog boxes for creating quizzes, tests, and interactive exercises. Content creators work in the language they understand -- English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Danish. or Italian - and ReadyGo WCB automatically creates the HTML code or JavaScript required for an eLearning site. Because instructional design is built in, pedagogically sound courses are automatically generated as well. The plug-ins common to eLearning sites designed with traditional tools often create problems in a corporate environment, because they cannot get through the firewall. In addition, many users cannot download plug- ins offsite. ReadyGo WCB resolves this issue by eliminating the need for plug-ins. The courses are noted for their ease-of-use, leading the novice step-by-step through the course materials. ReadyGo Management Team Anita Rosen, chief executive officer and vice president of Sales and Marketing, brings 18 years of management experience in high technology marketing to ReadyGo, Inc.. She was previously vice president of Sales and Marketing for LAN Media Corporation, served as director of Sales and Marketing for Powerhouse Systems, and held management positions at Pyramid Technology, AT&T and IBM. Rosen also acts as a marketing consultant to high technology companies, including Oracle, Netscape, Novell, Digital Equipment Corporation and Global Village. Rosen has published books on the Internet, including "E-Commerce Question and Answer Book" and "Looking into Intranets and the Internet, Advice for Managers" and she has appeared as a guest on several radio talk shows. Rosen holds a BS degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an MBA from Golden Gate University. Al Moser, chief technology officer and vice president of Technology, is responsible for developing ReadyGo's international development environment, designing the core technology used with the training content, and developing ReadyGo WCB. He has held a number of positions at high technology companies, and has served as a consultant to Space Systems/Loral, Ensemble Systems Corporation, and Quinta Corporation. Moser earned Ph.D. and MS degrees in applied mechanics from the California Institute of Technology and a Sc.B degree in mechanical engineering from Brown University.
